Angove Family Crest Shiraz 2021
Concentrated dark berries and black cherries. A dark chocolate influence really provides a little umph through the middle alongside spicey charred oak with licorice and thyme adding an extra dimension
The tannins are firm and grainy and really provide a strong backbone
Budburst Rating: #verywine 90pts
Region: McLaren Vale

About Angoves Family Winemakers
Angove Family Winemakers was established in 1886 by Dr. William Thomas Angove, a medical doctor from Cornwall in England. The Angove family's adventures in wine began as a hobby, with William planting a small patch of vines in Tea Tree Gully, in the Adelaide foothills. Initially, he harvested the fruit to create tonics to ease his patients' ailments.
Dr Angove's original vineyard was planted predominantly to Shiraz and Riesling, with his first wines carefully crafted in the historic 'Brightlands' cellar in Tea Tree Gully. By the turn of the century, these plantings had increased from 4 to 40 hectares, and a purpose-built winery and distillery had been set up in Tea Tree Gully to process the nearly 300 tonnes of grapes harvested annually.
From the Doctors very small rustic beginnings in Tea Tree Gully, the family now oversee close to 300 hectares of organic vineyards and have expanded their winemaking facility to include a state-of-the-art small batch winery and climate-controlled barrel hall. These advances have contributed significantly to the crafting of the super-premium, pristine, award-winning wines we enjoy today.
Now in its fifth generation of family leadership, Angove Family Winemakers is dedicated to embracing evolutionary ideas, with a focus on maintaining relevancy and ensuring sustainability for future generations to come. At the helm are Victoria and Richard Angove as joint Managing Directors and Sophie Angove as Viticulturist.
Angove Family Winemakers are certified organic, and members of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia and the Australian Packaging Covenant.
