Riversdale Winter Harvest Riesling 2021
This wine by Riversdale is a great match with Blue Cheese or Gorgonzola. It was made using the cane cut method, which means that fruit is left hanging on the vine late in the season and the cane (arm) that attached the bunch to the vine is cut and the fruit is left to hang for several more weeks to dry out and raisin naturally. this creates a concentrated sweet juice and this wine was picked at around 15% Baume and then partially fermented to retain its sugar and fresh acid, finishing with an alc/vol of 7%.
Lovely delicate sweetness with ripe apricots and preserved peaches fruits providing an initial burst of flavour. Its not overly luscious howoever, with juicy mandarin and a twist of lime providing freshness through the middle palate which then transitions to a cleansing spiced acid finish that helps to bring everything into balance. An #excellentwine thats ideal for matching with fresh and citrusy desserts and also with a cheese platter.
Budburst Rating: #excellentwine 93pts
