About Mewstone Wines
Mewstone Wines is a family-owned winery in Flowerpot, Tasmania, about 35 minutes south of Hobart. Established in 2011 by brothers Matthew and Jonathan Hughes, the vineyard sits on the banks of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, opposite Bruny Island. Originally a cherry orchard, the 5.2-hectare property was transformed into a thriving cool-climate vineyard specializing in Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Syrah. The Hughes brothers also produce a second label, Hughes & Hughes, which sources fruit from select vineyards across Tasmania, allowing for experimentation with different varietals and winemaking techniques. Their dedication to quality and innovation has earned them accolades such as being finalists in the Young Gun of Wine awards and recognition as the New Vineyard of the Year in 2021.
