Sonnen Tasmanian Pinot Noir 2024
This Sonnen Pinot Noir is medium to light bodied in it's make up, with blue berries and wild raspberry fruit flavours. The mid palate is complex, has a silky texture and reveals a myriad of flavours, starting with savoury dried herbs and vine stalks, complimented by an earthiness of field mushrooms and undergrowth, some orange spice, which then finishes
With finely grained, fury tannins. It's a wine that will continue to develop in the cellar until 2032, or match with pan seared duck breast with wild blueberry sauce.
Region: Tamar Valley and NW Coast, Tasmania
Budburst Rating: #excellentwine 93pts

About Sonnen Wines
Sonnen Wines is a boutique winery in Tasmania, founded in 2020 by winemaker Luke Andree. After an early interest in wine led him from physiotherapy studies to winemaking at Charles Sturt University, Luke honed his craft at prestigious wineries like Stefano Lubiana, Moorilla Estate, and Mac Forbes, with an influential stint in Germany at Weingut Melsheimer. Luke produces small-batch, minimal-intervention wines under the Sonnen label, focusing on Tasmania’s unique terroir.
Sonnen’s portfolio includes Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir, crafted with techniques like skin contact fermentation for added complexity. The 2024 Blanc, for example, is made from Tamar Valley Pinot Gris with a portion left on skins. Luke also serves as assistant winemaker at Pressing Matters in the Coal River Valley, collaborating with Samantha Connew from Stargazer Wines. His dedication to authentic, expressive Tasmanian wines has earned Sonnen a growing reputation among wine enthusiasts.
