Bangor ‘Captain Spotswood’ Pinot Noir 2025
Bright, vibrant and immediately inviting, the 2025 Captain Spotswood Pinot Noir shows plenty of juicy Tasmanian red-fruit character alongside some deliciously savoury complexity.
Red cherry, raspberry and strawberry sit at the heart of the wine, with notes of kirsch, coffee and milk chocolate adding another layer. The palate is medium-bodied and energetic, with strawberry coulis, sweet red cherry and a subtle pastry-like richness leading into a long, fresh finish. Bangor describes 2025 as a warm, dry season that produced particularly expressive red fruit balanced by lively acidity.
An approachable, versatile Pinot Noir that is made for drinking and enjoying rather than overthinking — equally at home around the dinner table or shared with friends.
Winemaking
Made from hand-tended vines at Bangor on Tasmania’s Tasman Peninsula, with a focus on small-batch production and minimal intervention. The 2025 Captain Spotswood sees partial maturation in older oak, allowing the bright fruit to remain front and centre. It sits at 13.5% alcohol and can be enjoyed now or cellared for up to five years.
Food Match
A very versatile Pinot Noir. Try it with roast duck, grilled salmon, lamb cutlets, mushroom risotto or a selection of soft cheeses and charcuterie. Its bright acidity and medium-bodied style also make it a good match for richer seafood dishes.
