I include a quality rating, for all the wines I taste

I don’t really believe that rating wines can be as definitive as giving a score out of 100 and my actual preference has always been to rate the wine with a #word.

I incorporate this word in my tasting notes and it indicates my thoughts on the wines overall quality.

However, Member feedback has been that you’d like to see my 100pt ratings as well, so I have also included these in the product descriptions.

  • #fantasticwine = 95-100pts

  • #excellentwine =92-94pts

  • #verygoodwine = 88-91 pts

  • #goodwine = 84 - 87pts

I have tasted most wines that I recommend on this site and I add my rating accordingly. Being a one-man band, it is however not always possible to try every wine and not always possible to write detailed notes either (especially at trade tastings or roll overs to new vintages)

In these cases, I may source winemaker notes off their website, use a third-party endorsement from a reputable critic (eg: James Halliday) or create AI generated descriptions
