Barringwood Tasmanian Sparkling Cuvee NV
The Barringwood Tasmanian Sparkling Cuvée NV is a vibrant and beautifully approachable sparkling wine that combines fresh, lively fruit with a delicate creamy texture and the elegance of Tasmania's cool-climate vineyards.
The palate opens with bright citrus fruits, crisp green apple and juicy red apple, complemented by subtle notes of fresh strawberries and a fine, persistent bead. The mid-palate develops a lovely soft and creamy texture, revealing layers of baked apple, lemon zest, delicate almond and a gentle hint of toasted brioche. The finish is crisp, clean and refreshing, with vibrant citrus acidity providing freshness, balance and a lingering mineral character.
A wonderfully versatile sparkling wine that delivers plenty of charm and character, whether enjoyed as an aperitif or alongside a relaxed meal.
Winemaking:
Barringwood's Tasmanian Cuvée NV is crafted using the traditional method, with secondary fermentation taking place in bottle.
The current release is based on the 2021 vintage and comprises 58% Chardonnay, 41% Pinot Noir and 1% Pinot Meunier, sourced from Barringwood's Evandale vineyard in northern Tasmania.
The grapes are whole-bunch pressed and fermented in stainless steel, followed by full malolactic fermentation to soften the acidity and develop texture. The wine then undergoes secondary fermentation in bottle, with 18 months ageing on yeast lees to build complexity and a fine, persistent mousse.
Disgorged in September 2025 with a dosage of 7 g/L, the finished wine combines vibrant fruit purity, a creamy mouthfeel and refreshing Tasmanian acidity.
Food Pairing:
Freshly shucked Tasmanian oysters, smoked salmon with crème fraîche, grilled prawns with lemon and garlic, goat's cheese and caramelised onion tart, or tomato and basil bruschetta.
