Henskens Rankin Vintage Sparkling Brut 2016

A beautifully mature and sophisticated Tasmanian sparkling wine that combines generous fruit, remarkable complexity and exceptional elegance. The palate opens with ripe white peach, nectarine and lemon curd, complemented by delicate notes of strawberry and raspberry. The mid-palate is rich and layered, revealing honeyed brioche, toasted almonds, nougat and subtle savoury characters developed through extended ageing on yeast lees. A fine, persistent bead and beautifully balanced acidity carry the wine through to a long, dry and savoury finish, with lingering hints of oyster shell and sea spray.

Winemaking:

A traditional-method sparkling wine crafted from 57% Chardonnay and 43% Pinot Noir, sourced from selected vineyards in Tasmania's Pipers River and Coal River Valley regions. Matured for over nine years on yeast lees before disgorgement in December 2025, with a remarkably low dosage of just 1.5g/L. Only 1,200 bottles produced, reflecting Henskens Rankin's commitment to small-batch, premium sparkling wine production.

Food Match:

Freshly shucked oysters, seared scallops with lemon butter, roast chicken with wild mushrooms, lobster or crayfish, and aged Comté cheese.
