Jansz Vintage Rosé 2020
An exceptionally elegant and sophisticated Tasmanian sparkling rosé, crafted entirely from Pinot Noir grown on the Jansz estate vineyard. Delicate salmon pink in colour, with a fine, persistent bead, the palate opens with vibrant flavours of fresh raspberries, ripe strawberries and red cherries, complemented by fragrant rose petals and hints of bergamot. The mid-palate is beautifully textured and creamy, revealing layers of freshly baked brioche, vanilla bean, nougat and delicate sweet spice, with subtle savoury complexity from barrel fermentation and extended lees ageing. Fine tannins and beautifully balanced natural acidity bring freshness and precision, leading to a long, dry and refreshing finish with lingering red berry flavours and a delicate saline minerality.
Winemaking:
Crafted from 100% Pinot Noir sourced from carefully selected blocks within the Jansz estate vineyard in Tasmania's Pipers River region. The fruit comes from a north-facing hillside overlooking Bass Strait, where deep, free-draining ferrasol soils and the cool maritime climate encourage slow, even ripening and excellent natural acidity. Fermentation in seasoned French oak adds texture and complexity, while secondary fermentation in bottle and three years of ageing on yeast lees develop the wine's richness, finesse and characteristic brioche notes.
Food Match:
Tuna sashimi with sesame and ginger, freshly caught Tasmanian lobster, pan-seared freshwater trout, roasted beetroot with cumin and whipped feta, and smoked salmon blinis with crème fraîche.
Region: Pipers River, Tasmania
