Champagne, France

The Louis Roederer Rosé Vintage 2017 is a beautifully elegant and sophisticated Champagne, combining generous red berry fruits, delicate floral characters and a silky texture with remarkable freshness and finesse.

The palate opens with vibrant wild strawberries, fresh raspberries and blood orange, complemented by delicate rose petals and a fine, persistent mousse. The mid-palate develops a wonderfully silky and creamy texture, revealing layers of ripe nectarine, pink grapefruit, subtle baking spices and a hint of dark chocolate. The finish is long, vibrant and beautifully balanced, with refreshing citrus acidity, fine chalky minerality and a distinctive saline character providing elegance, precision and impressive length.

Winemaking:

Louis Roederer Rosé Vintage 2017 is produced from 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, sourced from the house's estate vineyards in Cumières and Chouilly.

Roederer employs a distinctive infusion technique, allowing the Pinot Noir grapes to undergo a long, gentle maceration to extract their delicate colour, ripe fruit flavours and silky texture. A proportion of Chardonnay juice is added during this process, allowing the two varieties to ferment together and achieve greater integration and harmony.

Approximately 29% of the wine is vinified in oak, adding subtle richness and complexity, while 24% undergoes malolactic fermentation. The finished Champagne has a dosage of 8 g/L, providing balance between its generous fruit character and vibrant, mineral-driven freshness.

The 2017 vintage was particularly challenging in Champagne, with spring frosts and late-season humidity requiring meticulous vineyard management and fruit selection.

Food Pairing:

Seared duck breast with cherry glaze, Tasmanian salmon with citrus and fresh herbs, grilled prawns with garlic butter, roast quail, or a charcuterie platter with soft cheeses.
