Utzinger Riesling 2023
The Utzinger Riesling displays a concentration of fruit on entry that exhibits red apples, orange blossoms and a twist of lemon for upfront freshness. Its textured and viscous with a balanced residual level of 7g, as well as 4 months on full lees, adding layers of complexity, including a mineral edge, honeysuckles and a hint of quince, which then transitions to the lean and crisp acidity, that provides a long and lingering finish. Its possibly classed as off-dry in the Riesling world, which I think is a delicious style to just drink on its own or match with a Japanese Curry or Vietnamese Fish and lemongrass stir fry.
Region: Tamar Valley, Tasmania
Budburst rating: #excellentwine 93pts
