Stoke Wines is a tiny Kangaroo Island producer making wines in equally tiny quantities – and this Roussanne is a great example.
Only 33 cases of the 2024 Roussanne were made.
Roussanne has its origins in France's Rhône Valley, but here it's grown on Kangaroo Island – a unique and isolated place to make wine, with its strong maritime influence and cool Southern Ocean conditions.
Haven't tried a Rousanne before? Think peaches, pears and citrus, with a creamy texture and a clean refreshing finish. If you like Chardonnay and like experiencing something new and different every now and then, then this could be the perfect wine for you to try.
For me, this is exactly the sort of wine that's worth seeking out: an interesting Rhône variety, grown somewhere unexpected, from a small producer making very little of it.
