Berrigan Shining Rock Sangiovese 2025

Fresh, lively and packed with classic Sangiovese character, this Adelaide Hills red combines juicy red fruit with a distinctive savoury edge. Raspberry and tart cherry lead the way, joined by oregano, roasted tomato and subtle dark chocolate notes. There’s plenty of brightness and energy through the palate, with Sangiovese’s naturally fresh acidity keeping everything vibrant and extremely drinkable.

A versatile, food-friendly red that works beautifully when you want something with plenty of flavour without feeling heavy.

Winemaking

Grown on Berrigan’s Adelaide Hills vineyard, planted on shallow rocky soils of mica schist, granite and clay loam. The fruit was harvested in late March 2025 and fermented on skins for two weeks in small open fermenters with regular hand plunging.

After gentle pressing, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and maturation on full lees. Around 85% was matured in French oak, including 10% new puncheon, while 15% was matured in clay amphora to add further texture and complexity. The wine is unfined and unfiltered and is vegan friendly.

Food Match

A natural partner for wood-fired pizza, tomato and sausage pasta, chargrilled steak, duck or antipasto and charcuterie. Its combination of bright acidity, red fruit and savoury herbs also makes it a very good match for tomato-based Mediterranean dishes.
