Brinktop Chardonnay 2025
The Brinktop Chardonnay is a beautifully expressive Tasmanian Chardonnay, combining generous stone fruits, delicate oak complexity and a lovely creamy texture with the vibrant freshness of the Coal River Valley.
The palate opens with juicy white peach, ripe nectarine and fresh citrus fruits, complemented by subtle floral notes. The mid-palate develops a lovely rounded and creamy texture, revealing layers of toasted cashews, almond meal, buttery brioche and gentle spice, with carefully integrated French oak adding richness and complexity. The finish is long and refreshing, with bright citrus acidity and a delicate mineral character providing elegance, balance and impressive persistence.
Winemaking:
Brinktop is a boutique, single-vineyard producer located at Penna in Tasmania's Coal River Valley, where Todd Goebel and Gill Christian craft wines that reflect the distinctive character of their vineyard.
Planted on the historic Killara Farm, the vineyard features rocky, mineral-rich dolerite soils and east-northeast-facing slopes. Cooling sea breezes from nearby Frederick Henry Bay help preserve the natural acidity and delicate aromatics of the fruit.
Brinktop's Chardonnay is hand-harvested and whole-bunch pressed, with fermentation in carefully selected French oak barrels. Barrel maturation and restrained lees handling contribute texture, richness and subtle savoury complexity while allowing the vibrant cool-climate fruit to remain at the forefront.
Food Pairing:
Roast chicken with lemon and thyme, pan-seared scallops with cauliflower purée, grilled Tasmanian crayfish with garlic butter, mushroom and Parmesan risotto, or creamy Brie and Camembert cheeses.
