Jansz Pontos Hills Single Vineyard Vintage Sparkling 2020

A distinctive single-vineyard Tasmanian sparkling from Jansz, the Pontos Hills Vintage Cuvée 2020 brings together Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and a small amount of Pinot Meunier grown at the Pontos Hills vineyard.

Pale gold with a fine, persistent bead, it combines bright citrus notes of lemon, lime and grapefruit with white peach, honey and a subtle sea-spray character. Extended lees ageing adds layers of nougat, toasted hazelnut and brioche, while the palate remains fresh, finely structured and beautifully long.

There’s plenty of texture and complexity here, but also the vibrant acidity and precision that make premium Tasmanian sparkling so compelling.

Winemaking

Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier were hand-picked and assessed together before being gently pressed and fermented as a field blend. Fermentation took place with native yeasts in mature French oak, where the wine remained on lees to develop texture and complexity before secondary fermentation and extended ageing on yeast lees in bottle.

A serious sparkling that works beautifully at the table. Try it with seared kingfish with lemon butter, oysters, fried oyster mushrooms, grilled prawns or vegetable risoni with eggplant and zucchini.
