Jansz Single Vineyard Sparkling Chardonnay 2020
An exceptional single-vineyard Tasmanian sparkling Chardonnay that combines elegance, finesse and remarkable complexity. The palate opens with fresh green apple, white peach and vibrant lemon zest, complemented by delicate hints of honeydew melon and citrus blossom. The mid-palate is beautifully textured and layered, revealing spiced pear, vanilla bean, lemon shortbread, toasted brioche and creamy nougat, developed through extended ageing on yeast lees. A fine, persistent bead and beautifully balanced acidity bring freshness and precision, leading to a long, elegant and mineral-driven finish with lingering notes of sea spray and crushed oyster shell.
Winemaking:
Crafted from 100% Chardonnay sourced from a carefully selected block within the Jansz estate vineyard in Tasmania's Pipers River region. The grapes are whole-bunch pressed, with only the finest first-press juice retained. Fermentation and maturation take place in seasoned French oak barriques for eight months, adding complexity and texture without overwhelming the purity of the fruit. Following secondary fermentation in bottle, the wine spends over four years ageing on yeast lees, developing richness, elegance and finesse. A beautifully refined expression of single-vineyard Tasmanian Chardonnay.
Food Match:
Crispy-skinned yellowtail kingfish with buttered potatoes and samphire, seared scallops with lemon butter, freshly shucked oysters, roast chicken with creamy mushroom sauce, and aged Comté cheese.
Region: Pipers River, Tasmania
