Kalleske Moppa Shiraz 2024

Rich, generous and unmistakably Barossa, the Kalleske Moppa Shiraz 2024 combines powerful dark fruit with spice, floral lift and beautifully plush tannins.

Boysenberry, dark plum and ripe cherry lead the way, joined by violet, clove, fruitcake and milk chocolate, with roasted nut and toasted oak characters adding complexity. Full-bodied and richly flavoured, the palate remains impressively balanced, with silky tannins providing structure and a long finish of dark fruit and warm spice.

Predominantly Shiraz with small additions of Petit Verdot and Viognier, this is a bold yet polished expression of Kalleske's historic Moppa vineyard.

Winemaking

The wine is made from Shiraz with 3% Petit Verdot and 3% Viognier, sourced from ten blocks across the Kalleske family's Moppa vineyard, including vines planted as far back as 1961.

The individual parcels were wild fermented in open-top fermenters and spent 7–14 days on skins before traditional pressing. The wine was then matured for one year in hogsheads, with approximately 20% new French, American and Hungarian oak and the remainder seasoned barrels.

A great match for slow-roasted beef or lamb shoulder, chargrilled rib-eye steak, smoky barbecue dishes or a rich beef and mushroom pie.
