Marco Lubiana Pinot Noir 2023

Elegant, textural and powerful all at once, the Marco Lubiana Pinot Noir 2023 is a beautifully composed Derwent Valley Pinot Noir.

Concentrated red cherry and blueberry lead into layers of violet, wild undergrowth, mushroom, subtle granite, gently spiced oak and a hint of blood orange. The palate has a lovely silky texture, but underneath there’s real depth and structure, with finely grained tannins and balanced acidity bringing freshness and length.

There’s plenty to enjoy now, but the concentration and structure suggest this will continue to develop beautifully over the coming years.

Winemaking

Fruit comes from the certified biodynamic Stefano Lubiana Granton Estate Vineyard, including 20% from the close-planted vineyard and 80% from older estate vines across clay and gravel soils. The 2023 included around 30% whole bunches, spent a full year in 228-litre barrels and was bottled onsite unfiltered.

Try it with crispy duck pancakes, lamb shanks with red wine and rosemary, roast duck, mushroom dishes or grilled lamb.

and then reveals a silky texture through the mid palate, with subtle granite, wild undergrowth and mushroom characters, mildly spiced oak, violet flowers and a hint of blood orange. This wine is going to live a long life as well, as an underlying power of firmly grained tannins and a balanced level of acidity creates some freshness, resulting in impeccable structure. It will easily keep developing over the next decade and well suited to pair with Crispy Duck Pancakes or Lamb Shanks with red wine and Rosemary.
