Arras EJ Carr Late Disgorged 2008

One of Australia’s benchmark sparkling wines, Arras E.J. Carr Late Disgorged 2008 is a blend of 65% Chardonnay and 35% Pinot Noir sourced from premium vineyards across Tasmania’s Derwent Valley, Coal River Valley and East Coast.

White nectarine, grapefruit and ripe stone fruit lead into an extraordinarily complex mid-palate of brioche, toasted nuts, honey, oyster shell and subtle savoury characters. An remarkable 13 years ageing on lees in tirage gives the wine tremendous depth and creamy texture, while Tasmania’s naturally bright acidity keeps everything precise and energetic.

The finish is exceptionally long, dry and focused, with lingering citrus, toast, saline minerality and finely integrated autolytic complexity. With a dosage of just 2.2g/L, this is powerful yet beautifully controlled sparkling wine, showing remarkable freshness despite its extended maturation.

Food Match: Fresh Tasmanian oysters, lobster, scallops or roasted seafood. Also superb with roast chicken, mushroom dishes or aged hard cheeses.
