Schild Estate Ben Schild Reserve Shiraz 2021
The Ben Schild Single Vineyard Shiraz 2021 opens generously with black cherry and ripe red plum, layered with seeded spices, blackberry and violet.
There’s a lovely freshness through the middle of the palate that keeps the rich Barossa fruit lively, while cocoa, black pepper, nutmeg and well-integrated spicy oak add depth and complexity. Now with several years in bottle, these flavours are coming together beautifully, supported by firm, lingering tannins and a long, richly flavoured finish.
A powerful Barossa Shiraz, but one with plenty of freshness, balance and detail.
Winemaking
Made from 100% Shiraz, the fruit was fermented in traditional open-top fermenters before maturation for approximately 18–24 months in a combination of new and seasoned French, American and Hungarian oak barrels.
Food Match
A natural match for grilled porterhouse steak or beef Bourguignon. Also excellent with slow-roasted lamb, braised beef dishes or mature hard cheeses.
